These schools help children who dream of joining the Army, Navy, or Air Force. These school names are very popular—Sainik School, Military School, and Rashtriya Indian military college. Many children, even their parents, get confused about what is different in these schools. They all look similar from the outside, but they are not the same. Each school has its own level, its own style, and its own purpose.
What is Sainik School
Sainik School is a place where children study just like a normal school, but their lives are more disciplined and active. It is a boarding school, so children have to stay on the campus. They wake up early, do physical exercise, attend classes, play sports and study in the evening. The whole day is pre-planned properly, which helps children build good habits.
There are many Sainik Schools in India. Located in almost every state of India. Currently, we have a total of 33 Sainik schools, which makes them easy to access for children from different parts of the country. Admission in Sainik Schools for class 6th and class 9th. Children have to pass an Entrance exam called AISSEE. This exam has subjects English, Maths, Science and intelligence. After clearing this exam, students are eligible for a medical test. If he/she clear these tests, they are selected for Sainik School.
Sainik Schools are good for children who like sports and want a life with discipline. These schools give students early exposure to military culture, but in a simple and friendly way. Sainik schools are not very strict; children enjoy a balanced routine.
What is Military School
Military schools are also known as Rashtriya military schools. They are a bit more strict than Sainik Schools. The training is more serious and the rules are tighter. Students also live in the hostel, but the lifestyle is more like actual military training in many ways.
These schools mainly focus on drills, parades, discipline, responsibility and teamwork; the daily routine is very fixed. Students learn to follow orders, respect time and physical health.
There are only five military schools in India. That means higher competition. Admissions are done in class 6th and class 9th through an entrance exam. The exam is tougher than the Sainik School exam. The reason behind it is the limited number of seats.
Military schools are best for children who want a stronger military environment. They are perfect for kids who already feel very serious about joining the army.
What is RIMC
RIMC stands for Rashtriya Indian Military College. It is the most special and most difficult school among the three. RIMC is a very high-level institute. It prepares children to become future army officers. Many students from RIMC join the National Defence Academy (NDA) without any difficulty.
RIMC has only one campus all over India, which is located in Dehradun. That’s why getting admission in RIMC is very difficult. The entrance exam is very tough, and the number of seats is very small.
For taking admission in class 8th in RIMC, students have to pass a written exam, an Interview and a medical test. Only the best students get selected. Life at RIMC is very structured. The studies, training, sports and discipline are all at the highest level.
RIMC always focuses on joining the Defence forces as officers.
